Black African Historical News
Black African Americans Accomplishments
Mende PeopleRecently my lovely daughter, Dr. Lanetta Bronte desired to learn the family roots. She proceeded with her discovery using African Ancestry. Learning this truth required DNA testing. After waiting a few weeks, the result was sent, she called me excited over the news. The test showed that we are Mende people originating for Sierra Leona Africa.

During that period, Africans sold Africans. Therefore, the Cuban slave owners wish to send them to another part of the country by way of a slave ship called the Amistad.
On their destination, the Mende people took control over the ship. The mission, returned to their native land. Unfortunately, they were captured by U.S. Coast Guard vessels near the shore of New York Long Island. Cuban slave owners tried to spin the fact the Mendes were their property due to slavery. A Connecticut court gave them their freedom, making it possible to return to their homeland. More
