Author Meet and Greet
The Smith Island Cultural Center is hosting the Smith Island Book Club’s Author Meet and Greet.
When: This two day event will be a reception on Friday October 12, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and a meet and greet on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
Where: Smith Island Visitor's Center & Cultural Museum Center- 20846 Caleb Jones Road, Ewell, Maryland 21824
Event Details: Special Event: Friday night reception and discussion with Author Robert Blake Whitehill. Saturday meet and discussion with Author Robert Blake Whitehill. $3.00 admission fee each day into the SI Cultural Center, free admission for members of the SI Cultural Center.
Travel Details: Four boats leave Crisfield at 12:30 p.m. and return from Smith Island at 4:00 p.m.
Smith Island Cruises departs from Somers Cove Marina near 8th Street and Broadway. Reservations not necessary but suggested, call (410) 425-2771 / www.smithislandcruises.com.

3rd Annual Smith Island Arts Festival
131st Camp Meeting- July 30th - August 6th
The island churches join together for an annual Camp Meeting in Ewell that runs from the last Sunday in July through the first Sunday in August, with well known southern gospel groups singing on Sundays. Join the community for preaching at 7pm each evening during camp except for Saturday.
Parking is available at JP Tawes & Brothers Lumber. From W. Main St, turn right on Tenth Street and proceed to the intersection. On the right, you will see a tan building with an orange roof. Park in front of the building unless it is full. If full, proceed to the back lot. There is a drop box in the front. Please bring an envelope with the make of your car, license number of car, and number of nights you are staying. Cost is $3 per night. For questions, call 410-968-0678.
You will also need to visit the Crisfield Police Station to receive an overnight parking permit. Cost is $5 per night.
Local Boats: ALL CAPTAINS REQUIRE CASH PAYMENT!
The regular ferry boats transport passengers year-round to the island at 12:30 PM on Monday-Saturday. Boats leave at 12:30 PM SHARP! Please arrive at least 30 minutes early to prevent missing the boat.
Boats return to the mainland most days at 7;30 AM. On Sundays, the ferry has a special departure at 11:30 which is typically the only guaranteed ferry on that day. Some boats do run in the afternoon during the summer months.
