Ministry Birth : 1954
About : | FGUPC
Legacy : Full Gospel United Pentecostal Church was founded in 1954 by the spiritual burden on Pastor Sylvan and Emma Mackey in a small urban community known as "The Park" in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Allmons Beginnings in MinistryIn 1983, Bishop Richard V. Allmon Sr. and First Lady Lois Allmon - Little Rock, Arkansas natives - were commissioned by their Bishop, George A. Coleman of New Testament United Pentecostal Church (Shreveport, LA), to assist a then health-stricken Pastor Emma Mackey. Spiritual Validation, Ministry ExpansionGod validated and expanded His call on their work, as their ministry touched communities of East Baton Rouge, Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes, as well as the cities of Bogalusa (LA) and Woodville (MS). In 1983, the Allmons were elected Senior Pastors of Full Gospel United Pentecostal Church. In that same year, (Bishop) Richard and First Lady Lois Allmon founded Tabernacle of Truth United Pentecostal Church in Gray, Louisiana. From a home church ministry, the Allmon leadership grew Tabernacle of Truth into its first building. Years later, land was purchased that holds the current Gray campus sanctuary, and auxiliary area...with undeveloped land remaining for future facility annexation. Under the Lord's will and Leadership of Pastors Richard and Lois Allmon, Full Gospel in Baton Rouge sold its original location in "The Park", and expanded its territory to a parcel of land and 50+ capacity building on Mickens Road. Growth and God's favor continued: the church expanded again into its surrounding acreage and eventually our current 800+ capacity sanctuary. The former Mickens Road church building remains as our Multi-Purpose Annex Facility for Youth Services and Associated Ministry events. Birth of the S.E Mackey CenterThe Allmons' vision to expanded was not done; by 2006, 18 additional acres toward the intersection of Silverleaf Drive and Mickens Road were secured, and boasted the construction of the The S.E. Mackey Center. Honoring the church founders by its name, this state-of-the-art community fitness center still serving the North Baton Rouge, Baker and Zachary Communities as well as church members.Pastoral HistoryRichard and Lois (maiden name Straw) were married in 1972. Since 1983, the Allmons continually dedicated their lives to church planting and growth throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. Advocates of natural and spiritual education, the couple achieved many accomplishments: Associate Degrees, Masters Degrees, and Teaching Certifications in Theology, Christian Education, and Leadership. Bishop Richard Allmon served as Presbyter-At-Large with the Louisiana District of the United Pentecostal Church International, while serving as Senior Pastor to both Full Gospel in Baton Rouge and Tabernacle of Truth United in Gray, for the remainder of his life. Bishop Richard Allmon Sr's HomegoingBishop Richard V. Allmon Sr. departed this life on Sunday, April 15, 2012, under an escort of Angelic hosts.
