We understand that any hospital admission is stressful, but it is our goal to provide the most comfortable experience possible for both our patients as well as their families. We approach patient care as collaborative process in which the patients and families serve as an integral part of the medical team. So we want to make sure we do everything we can to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have. We want to make sure that our patients and families both understand and can provide input regarding the plan of care. This document is meant to provide some general information to help orient you to our floor. Feel free to review our general website information or take a virtual tour with links provided below.
WHAT TO EXPECT/ SCHEDULE
The Hospitalist physician and the nursing staff will be rounding (assessing each patient) each morning typically from 9:00-11:00 am.
We know you have other obligations that may require you to be away from the floor, but we recommend trying to work around our rounding schedule in order to get direct update regarding any changes to the plan of care, expected time of discharge, and general pertinent information/ education regarding your child’s diagnosis.
If you have questions that need to be directly addressed by the doctor, this is the best time to ask them. If you think of non-urgent questions after rounds have concluded, I recommend writing them down to remember to ask them during rounds the next morning. All urgent questions following rounds should be provided to your child’s nurse in order to address them without delay.
