PACED Desicion Making Model
The PACED Decision Making Model-
This is a PACED decision making model which will need to be studied by students because questions about this will appear in the competition, and this decision making model will also help students in the future when they encounter a difficult problem.
One team of six students and a coach is selected from each grade level to represent the middle school in this tournament.
The tournament is an academic, quiz-bowl type competition. This is not a quick response, trivial pursuit contest. Instead, it is a slower-paced tournament in which players are asked questions from the areas of mathematics, science, language arts and social studies, and economics. The questions are written by educators from district schools to mirror existing curricula.
WHERE and WHEN?
The Lakeland Center will host the 2017 Semifinal Round on Tuesday, April 4. The County Championship on Wednesday, April 5, at the Bartow Civic Center, will feature the six school teams from the Semifinal Round with the highest scores. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. There is no charge for admission.
Our goal is to provide an arena of competition in which middle students are challenged to display their knowledge of the core subject areas of language arts, mathematics, science and social studies along with their knowledge of basic economic terms and concepts.
"Best in Grade Level" trophies are awarded to the highest scoring sixth, seventh, and eighth grade teams based on scoring during the Semifinal Round. Individual trophies are awarded to each team member and the coach of the six finalist teams at the conclusion of the County Championship. In addition, each of the six finalist schools is awarded a trophy.
Polk County's Middle School Academic Team Tournament is sponsored by the School Board of Polk County and The City of Lakeland.
