News Update 07/11/18
Last Stint for 2018
Hope everyone had a great long weekend before the final 6 week stint for the year (yes, only 6 weeks left)!! Special mention to Ryan, Graheme and Mick who worked on Monday, appreciate the effort guys! Well done to Mel on winning the Cup Sweep, although pretty sure it was rigged, albeit mention of an elusive video of the draw…
Congrats to Graheme for officially getting his A-Grade. It’s been a long road with his previous employer and a couple of knee operations so great effort for sticking it out!
After recent discussions with a few service boys, thought it was worth mentioning that you’re all doing a killer job at the moment. Client expectations have gone through the roof in the last 6-12 months and most of this gets transferred onto you guys at the coalface. It’s certainly not as simple as just changing globes anymore. Let’s keep the dialogue going about how to make things easier for you guys and the office so things run smoothly. Open to any suggestions that can help.
MPE Training Academy
Great feedback from everyone on the recent training with Luke O. If anyone missed out or has any ideas for the next subjects, please get in touch with Luke.
-Barbara from Toorak called raving about Gerry and how efficient and organised he was. Clients mostly call when they’re angry so these positive calls are gold.
-Well done to all the boys (Baz, Harry, Luke O & Brett) who just finished a project for Shaynna Blaze in St Kilda- tough client to impress but you did it!! We’re getting some professional photos done soon so will send them around to everyone.
News Update 31/08/18
Mel will be back on board Monday after a well earned break. Huge thanks to Chantelle and Sally for holding down the fort while Mel has been away! You’ve done a cracking job girls!
NO LIVE WORK!
Another reminder that we do not work live! There is no excuse for us to be working live, ever! As Bruno says, “It’s Never Too Late, To Isolate”. Always isolate and use protective gear when necessary. Also a reminder that you need to strip cables when using connectors so that when someone else tests, they can get a live reading.
MPE Training Academy
Mandatory testing is the next subject coming up. Again, Luke O will be in touch for this next round of training. Please make an effort to get to the sessions if booked in, or let Luke know if you can’t make it.
Feedback for K.B.
Simon got a call from Jenny in Malvern. She was extremely happy with Kyle’s service and said he was polite, well dressed, knew what he was doing and clean. She admitted that she is a ‘tough cookie’, but was so impressed she wanted to call and let us know so well done KB.
Family Guy does Electrical Work
Bit of fun for your Friday arvo:
News Update 30/07/18
Welcome to the Team: Sally Francese- Admin Assistant
Sally has come on board to help out the girls for two days per week (Tuesdays & Fridays), so make sure to say hi and make her feel welcome next time you’re in the office.
The Flash: Chris Jobling- Industrial Technician
Chris has unfortunately decided to take up another offer more in line with what he has done in the past. We wish him well and the search continues for another industrial technician.
Kyle raised this recently as a major issue with most of the younger boys. This link has some really good info and warning signs in it that everyone should watch. We are also planning to get coveralls and face masks for every van in the event you think you need to handle asbestos.
Pete O visited the QLD and SA RUAG sites last week to put to together a proposal for a major data upgrade that they are doing Australia wide. We are in the running for the two VIC sites and hopefully we can pick up these other sites also.
Mel will be on leave from August 9th-31st. During this time, please make sure we all help Chantelle as much as possible by only calling her when we need something and giving her as much info as possible like job numbers, descriptions etc.
MPE Training Academy
The first contactor sessions have been a success with more to come next week. Next up will MDF training for those who are interested. Please let Luke O know and we will get these happening in the coming weeks.
Before & After
Jake did a ripping fuse board upgrade in Chapel Street. Before and after photos attached.
Bruno and Ryan (The Surgeon) navigated a tight squeeze at Pran Central yesterday to get a boom lift into the food court and change the lights above the escalators. This job has been a long time in the making so well done boys! Photos attached.
News Update 01/07/18
Welcome to the Team: Alex Daniels- Apprentice
Most of you have met Alex who recently completed a 4 week trial. We have decided to offer Alex an apprenticeship with MPE which he is very excited about! Great to see the enthusiasm! Alex will help out the service team initially and then move around to help some of the other guys and gain some different skills and experience.
Welcome to the Team: Chris Jobling- Industrial Technician
Chris has recently joined the industrial team and he has a stack of knowledge and experience. He has worked in large production plants over the years so he brings a new set of skills to MPE. Chris has been helping the boys out at Rooks road for a couple of weeks before he heads over to RUAG to kick off the new financial year.
Residential Manager: James (Baz) Martino
Baz officially takes the reins of the Rezzy division July 1st. Baz certainly has a passion for this line of electrical work so good luck Baz in making Rezzy bigger and better in 2018/19!
First Aid Training
The 2 sessions are happening this week so please make sure you make it on time to your session and also complete the online module 1 day beforehand.
MPE Training Academy
Luke O will be holding a training session on contactors in the coming weeks for those who are interested. Please let me know if there are any other areas you would like some training in so we can arrange a follow on from the contactor sessions. The service guys mentioned a refresher in all the mandatory tests (IR, earthing, polarity, fault loop impedance etc) would be helpful so we may go with that next up.
Graheme has successfully completed all 3 A-Grade exams first time! It’s been a long journey for Graheme so well done mate!
SVK has got us onto a new commercial builder which we won a job for first try. Looks like plenty more to come too for Elec & Mech so good work Simo!
Record Breaker: Simon Van Kuyk
Simo clocks up massive 15 years of loyal service this Saturday! He is MPEs longest standing employee which is a great achievement! We have a few things planned for next week to help celebrate this impressive milestone so stay tuned!
Welcome to the Team: Ryan Fryer- Service Technician
Some of you have met Ryan already and the rest of you will at the next toolbox/get together. Ryan joined the service team a couple of weeks back and he’s doing a cracking job so far!
Peter has decided to move on from MPE. He is overseas for 2 months with his family and is weighing up his options when he returns. He has left on really good terms and we have no doubt we will see him again when he gets back from the motherland.
First Aid Training
I’m in the process of organising a couple of group sessions at our office for early July. It will be a 2 hour session with a small online module to complete before the session. It’s a basic refresher course as most of you have already completed a first aid course at some stage in the past. I’m aiming for a Tuesday/Wednesday morning as no one has school/RDOs booked on those dates. Keep you posted.
A few of you have expressed interest in learning more about contactors and MDFs so we are going to set up a couple of test benches and run a few training courses in the workshop. If you have any other ideas for training or other things you want to learn about just let me know.
It’s official: Corsina loves Luke Wilke! She gave him a glowing report after he did some re-lamping down at 90 Maribyrnong Street. Wilke, please tell us your secret!
Jake Xerri also got some great feedback from a client and from Brian, our inspector for a fuse board upgrade. Brian is not easy to please so well done Jake.
