The founding pastors, Cornelius and Cynthia Winchester, are native Corpus Christians who were married in 1997, shortly after giving their lives fully to Jesus Christ. Pastor Neil confessed his calling to preach the Gospel and entered into various ministries. After moving back to Corpus Christi, Texas from Kingsville, Texas, they became Youth Pastors of Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship where they were both ordained as ministers of the Gospel.
Neil and Cynthia served as Youth Pastors, and on the Praise Team for over six years before being led to organize a fellowship of their own. They were given a vision for a ministry based on worship that would be intimate, genuine, and true. On January 8, 2006, True Life Fellowship commenced.
True Life Fellowship was the ministry's original name. However, after careful consideration, the decision was made to go with a name that expressed the vision, mission and purpose of bringing True Life to the body of Christ. While pondering the term "Dead Men Walking" which refers to those on death row, Pastor Neil illustrated his vision and purpose for the ministry by describing zombies who look alive, yet inside have no pulse. He explained this is how Jesus described those without Him, as white washed tombs that appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men's bones. This is how the ministry began to see people without Jesus Christ, as dead men walking, since He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. So the name was changed to Pulse Fellowship, a ministry Bringing Life to the Body of Christ.
Services were held in Pastor Neil and Cynthia's living room for a couple of months before moving to the Jewish Community Center cafeteria. Pulse only remained there for about a month before moving to the South Texas School of Christian Studies' auditorium where services were held for about six months. There would be one more move and a two year stay at a small storefront before settling at their current location.
The numerical growth of the ministry can be compared to the growth of bamboo. Very little was seen in years one through six. However, in year seven, the breakthrough of abundance was observed for the first time in the history of the ministry. God began to build His church because of the other growth Pulse Fellowship focused on... Spiritual Growth. Rather than ministering with fads that fade and trends that blend, Pulse Fellowship focused on taking those who were hungry for more of The Lord from milk to meat by teaching the full counsel of God's Word in an understandable and powerful way. Pulse continues to grow in Spirit and in Truth, in service and ministries, in leadership and influence, and believes the best is yet to come.

What We Believe
"Nonnegotiables and Nonessentials"
The AuthoritGy of od's Holy Word: We believe the Holy Bible to be the only, God inspired, infallible, complete and authoritative Word of God, given to reveal God's will and His way, that we may know, believe and live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (2 Tim. 3: 16-17)
The Holy Trinity of God: We believe in the One and only True God who is eternal, everlasting, omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent, existing in the three persons including the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1: 26; Matt. 3: 16-17; Matt. 28: 19; Jn. 1: 1-3, 14)
The Lord of All Creation: We believe in the creation of all things by the spoken Word of the Creator of all things. (Gen. 1; Jn. 1: 3)
The Rebellion / Fall: We recognize the rebellion of Satan, the fall of man, and the sin in the world (Isa. 14:12-15; Ezek. 28:11-19; Gen. 3; Rom. 5:12)
The Deity of Jesus Christ: We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ. That is, His God/Man nature, His eternal existence, His immaculate conception, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miraculous wonders, His vicarious and atoning death of the cross through His shed blood and broken body, His victory over Satan and sin, death and the grave, His bodily resurrection, His appearance to over 500 of His brethren, His ascension to the right hand of the Father with all power and authority of Heaven and earth given to Him, His imminent bodily return, His reign over all of creation, and that He and He alone is the Way, the Truth and Life by which man can be reconciled back to the Father. (Jn. 1:1; Heb. 9:15-22; Matt. 1:18, 25; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 9:27-28; John 14:6)
The Ministry of The Holy Spirit: We believe in the presence of the Holy Spirit, His ministry of guiding mankind into all truth, and that He dwells within every believer empowering every believer to live a godly life as a testament to the power of God. (Jn. 14:15-26; Jn. 16:5-16; Acts 1: 4-8; Eph. 1:13-14)
The Judgment of God: We believe in a literal hell and lake of fire that although was prepared for Satan and the angels that followed him, will be the final judgement reserved for all who reject Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We believe in the resurrection of the living and the dead, believers and rejecters; believers into everlasting life, and rejecters into everlasting damnation. (Matt. 25: 31-46; Acts 10:42-43; 1 Thess. 4:13-18 Rev. 20: 11-15)
The Grace of God: We believe that it is by God's grace and grace alone, which is a free gift, that we are able to be saved FROM sin's punishment and power, and TO The Lord and everlasting life; and that our works prove what God has done within us. (Eph. 2: 8-9; Jas. 2: 14-26)
The Church: We believe The Church is the unity of the saints consisting of Jews and Gentiles, and the commission of The Church to be the body and bride of Christ, and the light to the world. (Matt. 28: 18-20 Phil. 2: 1-4; Rom. 10: 13-15; Heb. 10: 24-25;)
The Outward Expressions of Faith: We believe in the outward expression of our faith by the practices of communion and baptism. We do not believe these practices bring salvation or righteousness but are expressions of our salvation and righteousness. We believe communion is the outward expression of our inward decision to depend solely on the victory we have in Christ Jesus, through His shed blood and finished work of the cross, and by His Word that became flesh and was broken for us. We believe in water baptism by full immersion to those who have chosen for themselves to identify with the death, burial, resurrection and life of Jesus Christ. (Matt. 3; Matt. 28: 18-20; Matt. 26: 26-28; John 6: 53-63; 1 Cor. 11: 26)
The Sanctity of Marriage/Family: We believe in the sanctity of marriage and of the family which are ordained by God for His Kingdom purposes (Gen. 2:18-22). They include: His presence filling the earth in His people (Gen. 2:7; Gen. 1:28), His Spirit ruling the earth through His people (Ezek. 36:27), His relationship being revealed with His people (Eph. 5:22-33) and for the joy of His people (Prov. 18:22). God has instructed in His Word that we abstain from sexually immoral activity because of its detriment to the soul and society including marriage and the family (Rom. 1:26-31; 1 Cor. 6:9-10 & 15-20). God's design, desire and description for marriage is stated as being a covenantal relationship between one man and one woman for life (Matt. 19:4-9). God's mercy, grace and forgiveness can be applied to all other practices and lifestyles prohibited by His Word, bringing restoration, healing and hope, but only when they are acknowledged as an offense to God and repented of by seeking His will and way concerning our relationships, marriage and family (2 Chron. 7:14; Acts 3:19-20; 1 Cor. 6:11). Therefore, we affirm, by the Word of God, that marriage is a covenantal relationship between one man and one woman for life, that sexual activity must be reserved for marriage, and that we are to protect our hearts, marriage and family from all practices prohibited by the Word of God.
The Sanctity of Life: We believe in the sanctity of life; that life begins at conception and is from, by and for The Lord, and therefore, no innocent life should be taken by anyone but The Lord. (Psalm 127:3; Psalm 139:13-16; Jer. 1:5)
Salvation (God's Role / Man's Role): We believe in the Sovereignty of God as well as the responsibility of man (Matt. 23: 37; Jn. 1:11-13; Rom. 8: 28-30: Eph. 2: 8; 2 Cor. 3:16)
Rapture: We believe the church (all believers) will be caught up or raptured to be with The Lord before the start of what is known as the "Seventieth Week of Daniel" or "The Great Tribulation" (Matt. 24: 36-44; 1 Corinthians 15: 50-52; 1 Thess. 1: 10; 1 Thess. 4: 13-18; 1 Thess. 5: 9-10; 2 Thess. 2: 7-8; Rev. 3: 10)
Tongues: We believe speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit, not necessarily given to everyone, nor is it the only manifestation or evidence of the Holy Spirit, and should be used for the edification of one's self or for the edification of the congregation when done decently and orderly, and when interpretation is given. (1 Cor. 12: 27-31; 1 Cor. 13: 1; 1 Cor. 14)
Eternal Security: We believe that once a person is truly saved, their salvation is secure. (Jn. 10: 28-30; Jn. 17: 12; Rom. 8: 33-39; Ephesians 1:13-14; Ephesians 2:8)
Liberty: Concerning "gray areas", we believe that we do not have the license to do what we want, nor are we illegal (wrong) in doing what others don't, but that we have been liberated or set free to be led by the Spirit of God concerning questionable things. (Romans 14; 1 Corinthians 6:12)
