Rainbows for All Children’s programs provide support to children who are grieving the loss of a family member as a result of a trauma such as death, separation/divorce, incarceration, deployment, deportation, life-threatening illness, or another life-altering event. Rainbows’ trained facilitators establish age-specific, curriculum-based support groups in community-based sites across the nation for children 3-18 years old. For more information, please visit www.rainbows.org.
Our Mission : Rainbows for All Children is dedicated to guiding youth through the storms of life. Rainbow fosters awareness that youth require support and coping mechanisms to heal from adverse childhood experiences. To impact the need at the community level, Rainbows trains facilitators worldwide to lead peer support groups using an evidence-based curriculum.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is the Rainbows app different from a Rainbows group?A: The Rainbows app can be a great tool to use on days when you don’t have a group meeting or when you are struggling with some tough thoughts or emotions. It’s also intended to help children who don’t have a Rainbows group yet in their community. The ‘Mood Boosters’ icon gives you some activities to do based on what you are feeling, and you can do them anytime you feel like you need some extra help or guidance. The app also gives you some space to write about what you’re thinking and feeling under the icon ‘My Journal.’ Q: Can anyone else read my journal?A: Only if you want them to. When you click on ‘My Journal,’ the app will take you to a separate site called Journalate. You will create an account and password so that the journal will be password-protected—only you can read and write in it. If you want to share your thoughts and feelings with your group facilitator, or friends in your group, you can do so either by reading your entry aloud in your group during one of your meetings (if your facilitator gives you permission to do so), or by emailing it to specific people (if your parent or guardian gives you permission to do so). Instructions for emailing a journal entry are in the Journalate app. For your safety and protection, we strongly recommend you do not upgrade to the paid version of Journalate where you can share your private journal entries on social media. Q: I am not part of a Rainbows group. Can I still use the app?A: Of course! The Rainbows app is for anyone who has gone through a loss and wants some extra help, even if you have never been a part of a Rainbows group before. It can also be great if you have gone through the Rainbows program and want to keep up with some activities or journaling. If you don’t have a Rainbows support group near you, keep checking in with the ‘Find a Group’ icon to see if any have popped up. We are always adding new sites. You can also ask a parent or guardian to contact Rainbows and inquire about getting one in your area. In the meantime, doing the Mood Boosters activities and using the journal to write about what you are feeling is a really great way to help you feel better and get your feelings out.Q: I’m using the app and going to my Rainbows group, but I feel like I need more help. Who can I talk to?A: If you or someone you know is having extreme feelings of sadness or hopelessness, you can contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. The National Alliance for Grieving Children has resources and local, national, and international support, which can be found at their website: www.childrengrieve.org. The Rainbows website, www.rainbows.org, also has a resources page with links to websites, books, and articles about different kinds of loss. You can also ask for help from an adult you trust: a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach. Don’t be afraid to tell them how you are feeling and ask them for help. You don’t have to go through this alone.
