Young Life’s presence is the single greatest uniting factor in Wilsonville for the sake of kids. Families, Schools, Sports, Churches, and Kid’s lives are changed through the ministry of YL. From 6th -12th, every grade and gender has leaders who are their cheerleaders, friends, their representative of Christ. There is never a dull moment in our time with the kids. From camps, to clubs, to campaigners, we experience a community of adventure, joy and life abundant as we discover Christ and who we are made to be. Each school is served by YL leaders and volunteers, filling in gaps, leading the charge, being Christ every day in every way.

What is YL? : Out There In the World of KidsYoung Life doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don’t happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency. So Young Life leaders log many hours with kids around the world — where they are, as they are. Leaders faithfully attend football practices in the Minneapolis suburbs, mingle with teenagers at a mall in Stockholm and play pick-up soccer with former child-soldiers in Liberia. We listen to their stories and learn what’s important to them because we genuinely care about their joys, triumphs, heartaches and setbacks. We believe in the power of presence. Kids’ lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God’s love with them. Because their leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose. This is the first step of a lifelong journey; the choices they make today, based upon God’s love for them, will impact future decisions … careers chosen, marriages formed and families raised. All ripples from the time when a Young Life leader reached out and entered their world.Who is Young Life for? Everyone is welcome in Young Life! Our programs are custom made for kids throughout their adolescent years. Young Life is the name of our organization and is also the term we use for our program with high school students. We call our middle school program WyldLife. The initiative for college and university students is called Young Life College. Young Life’s multicultural ministry, focused on kids in diverse cultural communities and those in economically-depressed areas, is arguably the largest of its kind in the United States. We refer to our ministry to kids with disabilities as Capernaum and to our work with teen moms as YoungLives. In a partnership with Military Community Youth Ministries, Young Life reaches military teens through a program called Club Beyond. The Small Towns initiative brings Young Life to communities of fewer than 25,000 people.

Our volunteer Young Life leaders all submit an application, pass a background check and drivers course before working with students. They also go through our New Leader Training Course.
Leaders are committed to being involved with kids' lives -- from supporting them at their sporting events to listening to them talk about what's important to them. Our leaders help kids consider the direction of their lives, and they offer hope for their future because of Jesus Christ.

'Story from Andrew Fairrington (WHS grad, YL leader, College student),
I was first introduced to YoungLife when asked to be a student leader my senior year of high school and shortly after that was asked to lead middle schoolers in Wyldlife. Since that time I’ve had the privilege of being a part of YoungLife through many different ways. Whether by leading the last three years, serving on Work Crew, taking students to camp, or serving on staff at Washington Family Ranch. Many of my fondest memories and deepest friendships have been formed through YoungLife. As someone who has worked behind the scenes in this ministry I can personally attest to the incredible heart and standard of excellence at which YoungLife operates. As a person YoungLife has challenged me, strengthened me, made me uncomfortable, and is one of the greatest sources of Joy in all my life.
This is a ministry where everything matters; every young person matters and deserves to hear about Jesus and his incredible love for them. At camp every table is set perfectly, every game points towards the Gospel, and every young person will come face to face with the God who made them and loves them enough to go to the cross. Whether they choose to accept his love and follow him or not, they will be loved. To me, that’s really what YoungLife is all about; showing each young person that they have incredible value, that they are loved beyond what they can even comprehend, and that they are being invited into an intimate relationship with the God of the universe who delights in them as His children'
